Day Trip to PENANG

POSTDATED13/12/09, SUNDAY

Kevin has scheduled to take his CFP exam in Penang this time. So we decided to follow him to go to Penang for a day trip.

We all woke up at around 7am in the morning. After washed and changed, we started our journey to Penang at 8am. The journey was a smooth one and Eugene was slept all the way to arrived Butterworth at 1035am. From Butterworth, we planned to take the ferry to Penang Island. The cost of taking ferries is RM7.95. But the waiting time may be longer than taking the bridge.

It was a nice experience and fun taking ferry.

Once you are in the ferries, you can step out from the car and enjoy the breeze.

The cool morning breeze gave us that soothing feeling that brought us to capture the scenic view with great pleasure.
The ferry ride took us about 15 mins to reach Penang Island. Upon arriving to Penang, we went to an old restaurant where just near the KOMTAR and we had Duck Egg Fried Keow Teow and Asam Laksa for lunch. After the lunch, Kevin dropped us off at Queensbay Mall since that his exam is at 2pm @ USM.
Whenever we go shopping, we would make it a point to stop by Toys R Us, because Eugene just loves it there! It’s like his second home! He would walk round and round the store, smiling and touching everything that catches his fancy. It’s really a good exercise work out for him as well as for me because I have to chase after him the whole day long.
And of course, after all that exercise, Eugene needs to charge back his energy and he was taking his noon nap in his stroller. When Eugene woke up, we brought him to Kids joyrides corner and it was hard work with Eugene insisting every ride but thankfully we managed!

Eugene was enjoying his every joyrides!

Kevin then back to Queensbay mall after his exam at 4pm. Everyone was hungry since our lunch was light as the duck egg fried keow teow served in small portion. We hung out and walked around, navigating the surrounding malls for food. Finally, we settled on Kenny Rogers' Roaster Restaurant.

Eugene was busy looking at the Kenny Rogers' Roaster Menu. Please give me a quarter chicken....

Our next destination is The Kek Lok Si Temple (Penang Hokkien for "Temple of Supreme Bliss";极乐寺). We drove all the way up to the Bronze Goddess of Mercy, Kuan Yin Statue.

Eugene is praying in front of an altar at the prayer hall.

They have the 12 animal zodiacs there as well! Eugene riding them one by one!

Walking in the Kek Lok Si's Garden.

The three-tiered roof pavilion standing at 20-storey high has finally complete after many years of hardship. The pavilion acts as a canopy to shelter the metal bronze Kuan Yin statue.
All in all , we had a lovely outing and spared not a second to make our trip to Penang more enjoying and meaningful.
